Richard Meredith (Dick) Blackford, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, November 4th, 2007 peacefully at Spring Mill Meadows surrounded by his family. He was born October 20, 1931 to the late Ralph and Mary Blackford in Indianapolis, IN. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt E-5 in the Korean War and a manager at Kraft McMahon Foods for 35 years retiring in 1997. He was a member of Teamster Union #135. Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, A. Jeane Marie (Buchanan) Blackford; sons, Vernon E. Blackford, Jerry M. Blackford (wife Kathy), Christopher A. Blackford (wife Leah); daughter, Judy E. Siegel; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Nicholas B. Blackford (wife Barbara); and best friends, Jay Scarborough (wife Lorry). He was preceded in death by brothers, Victor E. and Dorsey M. Blackford (surviving wife Frances).Visitation will be Tuesday, November 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Harry Moore Family Mortuary, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN. Funeral Service will be at the funeral home at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 7th, with Pastor Terry Cannon officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery Fishers, IN.
